Microsoft office 2007 application icons

This replaces the Word File New button with a custom button. You can also repurpose the Word File New button not shown. But it's no use to change the button menu if it has the MS Office logo on it. Thanks for confirming my conclusion that the office button's image can not be changed. As to the need to have MS branding on an Access-built solution, sure it's their choice to have that unremovable logo, but I find it to be a step backward since the 2k-2k3 versions allowed us to remove the Access icon and all the other branding.

I've never made it a secret that my application is build with an Access front-end, but do I want to make it painfully obvious? For example, should we all have a Visual Studio logo on all the software built with that? I pay for the license to use Access and build solutions with it, but why would I keep the office logo on my application?

No matter, in my latest tests the ribbon and the office button disappear when using the runtime Access so once I find a way to put my own menus there like in 2k3 I'll be satisfied. Please feel free to move the thread in any other category, I wasn't the one starting it, I just took over. Jensen Harris, the head of the team that designed the Ribbon, goes into some of the reasons why they made the decisions they did in his blog.

Yes, if you're using the run-time, and thus paying for a license to distribute an "application", then it makes sense this would be surpressed. The Access newsgroups should be able to help you figure out those nasty details. Since the main question that pesky big, round button is likely of general interest I'll leave it.

Access is a special case, being the only Office application that offers a run-time distribution license. So for anyone else with the same question the "sorry, can't do it" answer is valid. Archived Forums. This is happening for two of our users on XP SP2. We just did Windows Update and one of the patches might have corrupted their profiles? But it only affects one or two users profiles. I can login to the same computer with my admin account and the desktop icons all show just fine.

I found a very detailed page describing various ways to try to fix the issue, and I tried all of them. None of these worked. What did work, however, was completely quirky and inexplicable. The icon shortcuts were missing, because this weird directory was missing probably some disk-cleaning tool I ran purged that directory to regain some space. I found that directory on one of my other Windows laptops, copied it over, and now the Office document shortcut icons are working again.
