Sql workgroup processor license
My application will connect to it and do its job from different PCs in the netowork. I dont need any SQL Client application. So that is why I think this is a maze to me, I don't know where to proceed. Does anyone know which license or whatever.
Workgroup may be what you need. You may wish to refer to this link for feature set differentation. You can always upgrade to Standard Edition when necessary. But if your budget cycle is difficult, it may be wise to position for Standard Edition now. Licensing is by device -not your application or the single application user sa. And that counts even when the end user is not directly accessing the SQL Server but going through some form of 'middleware', such as a web site or application.
Licensing —Microsoft, Contact That pricing seems 'way off'. This version I never heard of, it is workgroup, but its description precedes by "Open No Level" and it is half the price.
That is usually a 'license' only, and you probably get a key to download the software. There is no box, packing, etc. Connecting TO is the important note. However, if other devices connect TO the instance you are installing, you will have to have CALs for those as well.
Thanks for making this clear for me. I developed a second application to. I don't know, but maybe for up to 25 users would be a better idea to get a processor license for workgroup? That is something that you have to price out. If you buy per processor licenses, you need to buy a license for each processor that SQL Server will run on, but if you have a per processor license, you can then have an unlimited number of users and devices connect to the SQL Server.
They may be including software assurance in that price, they may not. It might be for more than 5 CALs. But, that pricing doesn't look right to me for 5 CALs.
Is this price reasonable? Should that be a better solution for 25 users, possibly having more in the future?
